Kai’s home learning

Kai is already very familiar with the 26 letters both small and big letters. So mummy thought that maybe it is time to move on to another new introduction to spice up Kai’s learning curve before he gets bored. It is also a good chance to take advantage of this “highly absorbent” learning stage at 2 to 3 years old. Jiejie was first introduced to the phonic sounds at about 25 months too.

To kick-start the introduction, Kai has been watching Leaping Frog Letter Factory a few times a week for the past 1 month. Beside watching Leaping Frog, mummy does some causal practice with Kai with some songs and rhymes while at play at times to make learning easier and fun. And now, name any of the 26 letters, and dear Kai can tell you the phonic sound! Hoorray! 3 cheers!

Beside that, we also move another step to further widen Kai’s descriptive ability.

Mummy: Kai, what is this?
Kai: 2
Mummy: Good! *clap* What is the colour of the 2?
Kai: Red!
Mummy: Oh, it is a red 2!
And we go on and on and after 2 or 3 rounds, Kai is able to tell us spontanteously, orange 3, blue 4, yellow 5, blue car, red car, green A, red B…..”

It is amazing to see how fast they could catch concepts and patterns like this.. Well done darling Kai Kai boy!

Chinese calligraphy session at home.. hehehe..

Papa introducing chinese calligraphy to Kai. Jiejie, on the other hand, already has some exposure to chinese calligraphy from school. :)
